Teen Surprised Her Mom’s Boyfriend On Her Graduation Day With Official Adoption Papers

On a recent graduation day celebration, Lauren Hernandez surprised her mother’s boyfriend, Michael Iosco, with a very emotional and heartfelt gift. As Iosco dug deeper into the present box, he was overcome with tears of joy when he pulled out official adoption papers for Lauren.

Lauren’s mother has been in a long-term relationship with Iosco since the young girl was just a year old. The two have always had an easy and positive relationship, and Lauren has grown to love Iosco like a father. The adoption papers were her way of making their bond official.

Despite the focus being on Lauren’s graduation day, she chose to shine some light on the special person who has always been there for her. The video of their emotional exchange has touched thousands of viewers and is spreading around the world.

The adoption papers were the ultimate symbol of love and commitment. Lauren asked Iosco to adopt her officially as his daughter, and both of them were crying and hugging as they took in the memorable experience.

It’s heartwarming to hear stories of people coming together and creating strong family bonds. This is an excellent reminder that family is not always defined by bloodlines only, but also by the love and support that we give to one another. Congratulations to Lauren on her graduation, and to Michael Iosco on his new legal role as her father.

Despite the fact that they were not blood relatives, Iosco became the father Lauren never had. He supported her Catholic education and took her on family vacations. “He wasn’t there for Lauren’s birth, but he loves her the same way he loves our little girls,” Sally Hernandez, Lauren’s mother, said. “He chose to remain. He made the decision to stay.”

Lauren, then 18, decided to show Iosco how much she appreciated him by giving him the best gift he could ever ask for when she graduated from high school.

She gave him a box during her graduation party. Iosco discovered a poem Lauren had written especially for him inside.

Already moved by that simple gift, Iosco was moved to tears by what he saw next. An envelope at the bottom of the box contained adoption papers, allowing him to legally become Lauren’s father.

Adoption was nearly impossible when Lauren was younger because her biological father had visitation rights. However, just months before Lauren’s 18th birthday in April, the Hernandez women began looking into adult adoption without Iosco’s knowledge.

Iosco stated that he enjoys being Lauren’s father. “I’ve wanted to be her father since the beginning,” he added. “Growing up, I came from a split family. “I’ve always said that I wouldn’t want other kids to go through what I went through.”

“She called him her dad for years and years and years,” Hernandez said. “To her, he would have always been her dad, no matter what.”

Though the papers may only be a formality, “for her, it makes it official,” Hernandez said. As for Lauren’s special gift, Joe said it’s “one of the best things I’ve ever received in my life.”
