A video of a Burger King worker called Kevin Ford, 54, who claims to have gotten a present from management after 27 years on the job, was posted on the subreddit r/ABoringDystopia on June 20. Ford discusses the gifts he received from HMSHost, the business that Burger King hires, in the video, which was first shared on his Instagram on May 25.
These gifts included a Starbucks reusable tumbler, a bag of Reese’s sweets, pencils, and two rolls of Lifesavers, among other things.

Ford received a piece of chocolate cake from his coworkers at the Burger King in Las Vegas to commemorate the occasion. While Ford continued to be grateful and show his thanks in the video, the internet reaction was a little harsher. On the TikTok version of the video, one user commented, “Did they really only give him ONE movie ticket, tho?.” And he’s so gracious and humble about it. This really irritates me. He deserves so much more, said a different Reddit user.

Many of the other comments noted that Ford’s present didn’t quite live up to expectations, which may be the reason why Ford’s daughter stepped in to recognise her father’s commitment to his food service career. Seryna is my name. My father is the man in the video. Seryna Ford stated on a GoFundMe page she put up for her father, “He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work. When he was granted custody of my sister and me 27 years ago, he initially started working at this position as a single parent.

The great health insurance that was offered via this job since it was unionised then allowed him to continue working here as our family grew and he got remarried. This provided comprehensive healthcare coverage for all four of his daughters when they attended high school and college. Even though he appears young, my dad is approaching retirement age and leaving would prevent him from receiving his pension. He is not expecting any money, and neither are we, but he would love to see his grandkids if anyone felt inclined to bless him.
The reaction to her modest plea was far beyond anything the Ford family could have imagined, having its target breached twice — and it’s still increasing.

People all around the internet heard her and were inspired by Ford’s story. The GoFundMe has garnered more than $250,000 in barely over a week. I’ve been sobbing for the past two days or so. In an interview with TODAY Food, Kevin Ford remarked, “It’s absolutely wonderful. “I simply go to work and try to laugh, have fun, and brighten other people’s days. I feel as though I have been in a dream for the past two days. It is really amazing and gorgeous. It truly is.

Ford has received over 8,000 contributions, and he is grateful for the support of each and every person who opted to honour his 27 years of service. “Despite feeling unloved for so long, you still get up every day like everyone else. It’s absolutely astounding that someone would express such gratitude for the work you do, he remarked. David Spade, an actor and comedian, was one of them. He donated the GoFundMe a staggering $5,000, making him its top donation. Ford claimed that when he thanked Spade via Instagram, he got a hilarious reaction. When Ford said, “Hey, maybe now I could take a day off,” the man replied, “Wait till you’re 30.”

To TODAY, a Burger King spokeswoman provided the following statement:
“The Burger King brand and its numerous franchisees around the country are dedicated to honouring and celebrating the accomplishments of the thousands of individuals working in a variety of professions. We discovered after talking to the franchisee of this site that this video shows a Team Member receiving a peer-to-peer incentive for a recent successful performance”. “This expression of appreciation for Mr.
Ford by another worker perfectly encapsulates our culture of appreciation, compassion, and inclusivity and showcases the finest aspect of our business—our employees. Mr. Ford is a respected colleague and a part of a distinguished team of workers who have been with us for a long time.”
